The start of Guns N’ Roses “Not In This Lifetime Tour” kicked off on June 23rd with a newly mobile frontman: it was the first stadium gig for the band where Axl Rose was able to move around sans broken foot (or Dave Grohl’s throne).
The re-united rockers played a two-and-a-half hour set to over 40,000 fans in Detroit last night. While it wasn’t their first show back together, it was the beginning of their new tour which will see them playing 32 shows across North America.
In between their warm-up shows in April and the opening of this tour, the frontman played a series of dates with AC/DC, filling in for lead singer Brian Johnson who’s been plagued by hearing loss.
Meanwhile, GNR announced a very eclectic group of openers for the “Not In This Lifetime” trek that include Alice in Chains, Skrillex, Lenny Kravitz and country darling Chris Stapleton.
On a final note: now that Axl is mobile and getting more exercise, maybe he can afford to enjoy some of his beloved fried chicken?
