It’s been a distressing, depressing week for gun violence and race relations in America.
Police shootings resulting in the deaths of two black men – one of which was captured and streamed live on Facebook by the victim’s girlfriend – have ignited strong emotions about law enforcement’s treatment of the African American community.
Last night in Dallas, five policemen were ambushed and killed by snipers during a Black Lives Matter protest. Seven others were wounded. It was the deadliest killing for officers since 9/11.
Never ones to shy away from expression, major artists had plenty to say through new songs, online essays and on social media.
As soon as the Dallas incident was reported, the Twitter reactions began:
